  ALC Week 2 Review
By: Amie Wilcox

Members do a strange thing to Camp Couchdale. Although it’s a beautiful place anytime without the members, camp just really isn’t camp.

After weeks of training and preparation, our state officer team was thrilled to see the first bus pull into the drive. Just like a snap of our fingers, Camp Couchdale came to life as members kept coming in.

Week 2 of the Arkansas Leadership Conference has come and gone faster than I could have imagined. Throughout this week, members really soaked up what it means to be a true advocate for agriculture.

During one session, we had a “Farm Facts Showdown” where the members got to play a game to test their own agriculture knowledge and compete against others. After this, members made billboards to promote agriculture and really understand why we as FFA members should be promoting our industry. As one member put it, “The fact is, if we don’t advocate for agriculture, no one will.”

This couldn’t be more true…as FFA members, we are called to be leaders and stand out. If we don’t spread the good of agriculture to the public, no one else ever will, and we as agriculturists won’t have a future. Actually, without agriculture, there is no future. Agriculture is everywhere, and to secure our future, we must make sure agriculture is protected.

Throughout the week, members had the opportunity to develop voice plans to promote agriculture and also learned about a few key tools to be positive in promoting the agriculture industry.

Arkansas FFA would like to thank the Beebe, Brookland, Conway, County Line, Crossett, Glen Rose, Green County Tech, Hackett, Kingston, Mena, Morrilton, Mountain Home, Paris, Pocahontas, Prairie Grove, Riverview, Searcy, Southside Bee Branch, Springdale Har-Ber, and the Weiner FFA chapters for coming and bringing this year’s week 2 ALC to life!
