Hello, Arkansas FFA! Well, we are pretty much a full month into the great new year of 2013! I hope everyone has gotten off to a terrific start. As for your State Officers, we’ve been staying very busy with little things here and there—but, all these little things add up in a BIG way.

We just finished our 2nd week of the Arkansas 360/Greenhand Conference and it was simply fantastic. Although it was pretty chilly outside, we kept things going inside and the energy and enthusiasm that everyone brought to Camp Couchdale this past weekend was commendable in a huge way! A huge thanks to the following chapters for contributing to a successful weekend of 360/Greenhand Conference: Conway, Crossett, Flippin, Hermitage, Kingston, Mena, Mountainburg, Norfork, Ozark, Paris and Quitman.

The energy and participation that you guys added to the conference is what made it so successful—keep it up! We look forward to seeing you all again soon and take care until then!

You never really know how important it is to have energy and involvement at FFA conferences, but here’s something that I never really thought of before I became a State Officer…

In high school, whether you’re a senior and have been in FFA for years, or if you’re a freshman and don’t really know what to expect from the FFA, one thing that can make or break your experience in this organization is your involvement and energy that you bring to every event. With every FFA function, there are so many opportunities that open up for you, and it’s up to you, and only YOU, to take advantage of these opportunities.

When I was in high school, I remember coming to Camp Couchdale for the first time as an incoming sophomore. My first conference was ALC 2009; from that summer on, I was hooked. It was because I opened up and came out of my shell that my FFA experience has been so rewarding and exhilarating. That summer in 2009 at Camp Couchdale, I started out the week pretty shy and I stayed to myself most of the time, but by the end of that amazing week, I had made so many new friends and the skills I learned that week are skills that I continue to put to use every day! Sometimes I wonder where I would be if I hadn’t opened up that week of ALC and got involved. Would I be a State Officer? Would I have served as a chapter officer? Would I have even stayed in FFA? Looking back, I’m thoroughly thankful that I decided that week to have that energy, have that drive, and have the desire to get involved with the FFA!

My question to you- have you decided to bring energy to every event? Have you decided to establish a drive to be successful with this organization? Have YOU decided to get involved?

I know this much, Arkansas FFA has long been known for energy. Four years ago, I got my first taste of the energy and excitement that Arkansas FFA has to offer and it has only gotten stronger!

You all, every member in this association, bring life to Camp Couchdale. We commend you on a job very well done, but don’t let it stop! This year is far from over and Arkansas FFA is far from over; it’s up to YOU to bring life, energy, excitement, and involvement to this organization. I can promise you this, you’ll never regret giving FFA your all. The opportunities are here, are YOU?

Stay Inspired—Be Inspiring,
Dausen Duncan
