Purpose
The purpose of the job interview career development event is for FFA members to develop, practice and demonstrate skills needed while seeking employment in the agricultural industry. Each part of the event simulates “real world” activities that will be used by real world employers.
The event is developed to help participants in their current job search (for SAE projects, part-time and full-time employment). Therefore, the job description, cover letter, resume, and references submitted by the participants must reflect their current skills and abilities and must be targeted to a realistic agricultural job or internship for which they are qualified to apply. Participants cannot develop a fictitious resume for a fictitious job or internship; instead they must utilize their actual experience. They are expected to target the resume toward a real job for which they presently qualify.

New For 2022-23
The Job Interview/Employment Skills LDE continues to grow in participation and is highly competitive. For 2022-23 we will be accepting two contestants from each Sub-Area to compete in a virtual district contest. After the district contest two contestants will then advance to state held during the state convention.
Sub-Area: Students will submit a resume, job description, and cover letter to the sub-area. It is recommended to the sub area chairs to have the resume, job description, and cover letter submitted for grading at a date set by the sub-area chair prior to the sub-area contest. Personal interviews will be hosted in person at the sub-area contest.
District: Students will submit a resume, job description, and cover letter to the district chair for grading at a date set by the district chair. After grading the top 5 will be notified in each district and will then be interviewed by Video. The top 2 from the district contest will advance to the state contest held during state convention.
